Any film produced within a school or debut and second feature film can apply for official selection at the 7th annual of the biggest student cinematic event in Central and Eastern Europe. Prizes for more than EUR 9000 are to be delivered during the festival.
Fresh Film Fest, International Film Festival, Czech Republic, is announcing the "Call for Entries" for the forthcoming 7th annual of the event. Student and first or second feature films of any kind, e.g. fiction, documentary, animation and new media can apply for official selection. Films from more than 50 countries are announced to be participating the festival.

Application deadline is set to April 30, 2010.
You can register on-line at http://en.freshfilmfest.net/entryform . The printed confirmation e-mail should be sent altogether with the DVD/VHS screener of the registered film (with English subtitles or in English language) on May 5 at the latest.
Work-in-progress versions of registered films are welcome on the proviso that once selected, the final version of the film has to be finished before July 30, 2010.
Please note: only films made after January 1, 2009 can be submitted.

Desde el Colectivo 'Cámara Lenta' y la Sala El Cachorro, hemos convocado una nueva edición, la octava, del Certamen de Cortometrajes 'Por Caracoles', que se celebrará en Sevilla (España), del 14 al 18 de junio de 2010.

Al VIII Certamen de Cortometrajes 'Por Caracoles' pueden concurrir cortometrajes producidos en 2008, 2009 o 2010 y que tengan una duración inferior a 16 minutos. Habrá tres premios: Premio al Mejor Cortometraje 'Por Caracoles', dotado con la recaudación en tapas de caracoles que se consuman durante los días de proyecciones en la Sala El Cachorro; 'Caracol de la Tierra' y 'Caracol del Público', estos dos últimos dotados con un trofeo en cerámica de Triana.

Las obras deben presentarse en formato DVD antes del 17 de mayo de 2010 en la dirección que se especifica en las bases.

With just a small window of time left before preparations for ÉCU 2011 begin, there is a chance to reflect upon on what I believe was a successful ÉCU 2010.
First of all I’d like to offer my thanks to the filmmakers who competed in ÉCU 2010’s ‘Official Selection’ and whose films gave our audiences such pleasure. My congratulations go to the award-winning filmmakers who thoroughly deserve the recognition and I hope that these awards help to not only further the audience of your current films but will also help you to launch your future projects.
There is little doubt that these last two years have affected everyone financially and I was encouraged several times throughout the year to join the many other festivals that have put themselves on ‘hiatus’ for 2010. But I felt that there were filmmakers out there still making films – telling their stories – even under the added pressure of an enormous global financial melt down and that by ‘going-to-sleep’ for a year we’d show that we didn’t match their strength and ability to get things done, no matter the difficulties. So in the end ÉCU 2010 went ahead and I was proud of how my team performed Herculean-like tasks to present a great slate of films to an appreciative audience in the face of some rather large obstacles this year (which included someone hacking into our website and throwing it into total chaos one day before the festival – Thnx for that!)

Es una iniciativa del Plan Nacional sobre el Sida, dirigida a la prevención del VIH en hombres que tienen relaciones sexuales con hombres. El concurso forma parte de la campaña “No dejes que el VIH se fije en ti” y tiene como finalidad la promoción del uso del preservativo.

This year we are reprising our role as the curator of the Whistling Woods Student Film Competition, a section of The Pune International Film Festival, one of the premier showcases for Indian and world cinema in the country.  The 8th Pune International Film Festival will be held in Pune between 7th to 14th January 2010 with Whistling Woods International sponsoring & organizing the Student Film Competition Section.

This year’s entries have been invited from film & media school students across the globe in the Live Action and Animation categories. The prize winning films will be selected by a special jury appointed by PIFF with the competition award money totaling $5000 for Best Director (Live Action), Best Screenplay (Live Action) and Best Film (Live Action & Animation). This year, Whistling Woods International in association with ARRI introduces a special award for student cinematographers, the ARRI Promising Indian Student Cinematographer Award. The winning student cinematographer is awarded free use of the latest ARRI High Definition Motion Picture Camera for a period of 150 days. (This award is open to students of Indian nationality or those studying in a Film Institute in India only.)

The call for entries is open now! All entries must conform to the criteria specified and must fulfill the guidelines of submission as outlined in the Rules & Regulations which can be found attached. There is NO ENTRY FEE for this festival.

3rd edition of the International Student Film Festival Early Melons is going to take place in Bratislava in March 2010. The quality film production created during the past year at audiovisual universities in Europe and abroad will be presented here. We would be pleased to welcome your film!

El Festival de Cine Independiente Europeo (ÉCU) es el primer evento que se realiza en Europa para cineastas independientes y sus audiencias. Desde sus inicios, hace cinco años, ÉCU ha descubierto un extenso arsenal de películas frescas e innovadoras, generalmente de bajo presupuesto, y realizadas por cineastas independientes de extraordinario talento. Así, el festival se ha convertido en respuesta europea al Sundance Festival. El festival se llevará a cabo del 12 al 14 de marzo en el Cinéma Le Grand Action en París, Francia. Existen quince categorías, desde una exclusiva para estudiantes, hasta películas dramáticas, documentales o de animación. El jurado está compuesto por prestigiosos cineastas y expertos de la industria cinematográfica, y varios cineastas galardonados en ediciones anteriores de ECU y que han sobresalido notablemente. ECU 2010 puede ser la plataforma en la que sus estudiantes inicien su carrera como cineastas.

Sección Oficial de Largometrajes en 35mm
Sección en la que podrán competir todos los largometrajes cuyo fin de producción sea tras el 1 de enero de 2008. Será requisito imprescindible para que entre en competición el recibir una copia de la película en 35mm (en algunos casos, la organización podría considerar la aceptación de BETACAM).

El premio para el mejor Largometraje será de 8.000€. Además, habrá un Premio Especial del Jurado.
- Sección Oficial de Cortometrajes en 35mm. Al igual que en la sección de largometrajes, todos los cortometrajes cuya fin de producción sea posterior al 1 de enero de 2008 tienen cabida en esta sección. Una vez más, será requisito para competir, el que se trate de una copia en 35mm. El premio para el mejor Cortometraje en 35mm será de 1.000€.
- Sección Karratu. Sección competitiva en la que pueden participar todos los cortometrajes en DVD cuya producción acabase tras el 1 de enero de 2008. En este caso, los trabajos se presentarán en formato DVD. El premio para el mejor Cortometraje en DVD será de 600€.

Aparte de estas secciones competitivas, también contaremos con exposiciones, talleres, proyecciones de cine vasco, proyecciones de cine infantil en pases concertados con escuelas, maratón, series de animación (pudiéndo ser competitiva si se recibe el número de trabajos suficiente), etc.

Warsaw / Poland / 4 - 6 December 2009 European Youth Film Festival - "EFeMKa" is one of the rare initiatives supporting and protecting young filmmakers from all over Europe from the uneven competition that they encounter from older more experiences colleagues in this field. The festival lets them enter this film environment and make their debut, encouraging them to try and improve their workshop - despite some faults and imperfections of their first creations. As every year, this competition will include all film genres and forma (starting this year we also accept movies made with cell phones), and their rebel authors will have an excellent opportunity to confront their output with other filmmakers, vigorous audience, special guests and professional jury members. El desafío cinematográfico de 24 Horas de Cannes es la última aventura para cineastas que ha sido una característica del Festival de Cine de Cannes desde 2005.
Estamos orgullosos de anunciar que el productor de este acontecimiento tan emocionante - Steven Kimbrough (www.kimbroughmediagroup.com), y como parte del Festival Internacional de Cine de Marbella producirá el 2º Desafío Cinematográfico de 24 Horas de Marbella.

El Festival Internacional de Cine de Marbella tendrá lugar entre el jueves 1 de octubre y domingo 4 de octubre de 2009 en los Cines Gran Marbella de Puerto Banús.

Los equipos tendrán exactamente 24 horas para completar un corto de 5 minutos de duración, incluyendo guión, filmación, edición, etc.

Las películas tienen que estar terminadas en el plazo indicado: 24 horas = 24 horas. No habrá extensiones. El arte no puede existir sin plazos.

Los equipos  escogerán el título y el género de la película el jueves 1 de octubre @ 12 del mediodía, y las películas ganadoras recibirán sus premios el domingo 4 de octubre.

Comience a montar a su equipo y planee su viaje a Marbella. Remita esto a todos sus amigos cineastas. Decidan quién traerá la cámara, el micrófono, la computadora (para editar), el vestuario, el alcohol, etc. (Por supuesto, usted todavía no sabe de qué irá su película, pero cualquier cosa podría ser útil) decidan quién dirigirá, quién actuará, etc.

Habrá 2 premios – el otorgado por el panel de jueces y el otorgado por las votaciones del público. ¡Los ganadores pueden contar con algunos premios emocionantes!

It's a festival where participants MAKE films and watch and discussed what they produce. Painters have "plein air holidays" to paint and network. Why shouldn't we? Film Spring Open is a plein air for filmmakers created to give you the opportunity to network, socialize, relax, get inspired and make a film at the same time.
Film Spring Open Festival took place first time last year. It turned out to be amazing. Around thirty filmmakers came to Jurata and spontaneously made films; they participated in the seminars and took part in the discussions. But for most of them it was great fun and an opportunity to learn about filmmaking and opportunity to meet interesting people. We want to continue with Film Spring Open this year and again we invite everyone to Jurata, Hel Peninsula, Poland between the 5th and the 25th of October 2009. We invite all filmmakers for Film Spring Open, Festival of Filmmaking. There are hundreds of festivals where films are being watched but during Film Spring Open we want to make films together.

"Filmspringers in Love" is the motto that we propose as a subject of our films that you will shoot during Film Spring Open 2009. That means that those films will be love stories (fictional of course;-) told by your cameras.
I imagine that this could be a joint fun of filmmaking. A pair of filmmakers observes each other and dialogs in front of the cameras. They can improvise. They can also carry out a previously written script. You can engage actors, but also you can play in your films, talking and walking with the chosen film partner, filming and holding a camera in your hands.
Chosen love threads we will edited during our workshops into one film, so we can send it to film festivals. We also take into account that we can continue this "Fun" and shoot follow up episodes that we will upload in the internet and we can try and present them to some TV channels. (Polish TVN is already interested)

Maybe a new show format will come out of all this, which will be editing together from your individual love stories.

Not everyone will be able to come and be at Film Spring Open Festival but you can make this film in your home. Very soon on our online service FilmSpringEditing.com will put a section titled "FilmSpringers in Love 2009" and there you will be able to upload your movies. We will edit them with all the other films and also all of you will have a chance to edit your own version.
Remember the subject is only a suggestion because during FSO everyone makes whatever they feel like. Bring your own cameras, laptops, bring your friends and just come to Jurata. There you will meet filmmakers just like you. Welcome.

315 FILMS DE 204 ANIMADORES PROCEDENTES DE 61 PAÍSES COMPITEN EN ANIMACAM.TV 2009

Concluido el plazo de recepción de films, desde ayer martes 1 de septiembre y hasta el 19 de octubre comenzó la fase de votación del público mediante la emisión del voto online. Los participantes optarán a ocho premios de 2.000€ cada uno, patrocinados por TURGALICIA.

El festival presenta seis categorías a concurso en la Sección Oficial (cortometraje, spot publicitario, multimedia, preescolar, ópera prima y retrospectiva) y dos Premios Especiales (Campus Terrae - centrado en la temática social y antropológica- y Campus Aquae- para aquellas obras relacionadas con el medio ambiente-).

En esta 2ª Edición concursan 315 filmes de 204 directores procedentes de 61 países (Albania, Alemania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bélgica, Bielorrusia, Bolivia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Brasil, Bulgaria, Canadá, Chile, China, Colombia, Corea del Sur, Costa Rica, Croacia, Dinamarca, Ecuador, Eslovenia, Eslovaquia, España, Estados Unidos, Estonia, Filipinas, Francia, Grecia, Guatemala, Holanda, Honduras, Hong-Kong, Hungría, India, Irán, Irlanda, Israel, Italia, Japón, Lituania, Malasia, Marruecos, Méjico, Moldavia, Nigeria, Noruega, Nueva Zelanda, Pakistán, Polonia, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Reino Unido, República Checa, Rusia, Rumania, Serbia, Sudáfrica, Suiza, Taiwán, Turquía, Uzbekistán). A un año de haber nacido el Festival, esta edición duplica, prácticamente, la participación de obras a concurso con respecto a la anterior del año 2008.

Los autores de las animaciones presentadas conforman un amplio y diverso arco de edades y trayectorias profesionales: desde nuevos realizadores que están dando sus primeros pasos en el mundo de la animación, pasando por consagrados profesionales de la industria mundial hasta veteranos en activo de Centroeuropa (Octavian Frecea -Rumania-, Artan Maku –Albania-) y América (Álvaro Bautista -Colombia-); o un histórico de la animación cubana (Hernán Henríquez- cofundador del ICAIC -) que presentó gran parte de su obra. Así mismo, el Festival cuenta con la participación de alumnos de prestigiosas escuelas de formación de animación de Europa y América (ESMA School- Francia-, ECAM- España -, Vancouver Animation School- Canadá- , etc.)

Las temáticas de los films a concurso fueron también variadas y plurales: la guerra, las relaciones de familia y pareja, el mundo del arte, la violencia, la infancia, el racismo, los conflictos étnico-territoriales, la censura, entre otras.

La presencia de mujeres animadoras participantes en esta Edición ha sido verdaderamente notoria: mientras que en 2008 la representación femenina se había limitado a cinco animadoras, en esta Segunda Edición son más de treinta las autoras que han presentado sus obras como Spéla Cadez desde Eslovenia, la danesa Inma Carpe, la autora novel hindú Kaukab Basheer o la experimentada Maribel Martínez Galindo de Televisa México.
